When he was still very small he was brought to the city by an Inquisitor returning from an assignment in Dravania. That same Inquisitor made Llaz a ward of the nation of Ishgard, where he was sent to an abbey orphanage and taken in by the church.Llaz received a traditional Halonic education, excelling in his studies, but was not gifted in combat training. He spent most of his time alone with his books or with the cloistered sisters that looked after them. Other children his age found him weak, sensitive, even girlish, and he had few friends. One of the abbey priests offered him an opportunity to meet more like-minded individuals. He swore Llaz into secrecy and spirited him away to a hidden gathering. It was a trap. Members of a voidsent cult calling themselves Radeka’s Thorns were waiting for him. They offered Llaz as a vessel to their Voidsent deity. The summoning was a disaster; the ritual failed and Llaz managed to escape with his life.Gravely injured, Llaz fled the Temple Knights and the church both. With the help of a nursemaid who had known him as a child, he managed to find refuge in the most unlikely of places: a bordello. Le Chabanais, a silk-stocking establishment widely known for catering to Ishgard’s aristocracy. While he recovered, Llaz started as a serving boy, working his way up and officially taking on the title of courtesan once he came of age.Now, Llaz thrives in his line of work. In a matter of a few short years he became one of the most highly requested courtesans in Le Chabanais. He is charming, charismatic, and unfalteringly professional. He offers his clients companionship, a listening ear, a shoulder when needed, and much more. Sons of the high houses of Ishgard pay through the nose for a single evening spent with him.
PLOT HOOKS.
INTIMATE KNOWLEDGE. With the patronage of Ishgard’s most noble houses, all manner of rumors and gossip circulate amongst establishments specializing in pleasure. Le Chabanais does its utmost to ensure the privacy of its patrons. However, secrets can always be bought and sold… for the right price. As one of Le Chabanais's most highly requested courtesans, Llaz would make an invaluable informant on the high houses of Ishgard.
ESTEEMED CLIENTELE. Llaz's line of work allows him the opportunity to rub elbows with some of Ishgard's most privileged elite. He can occasionally be spotted among the crowd at lavish, high profile events, likely decorating the arms of rich and powerful men as an escort.
ILLICIT AFFAIRS. Llaz is hardly a stranger to vice; he always keeps an ear to the ground for potential black market contacts. While it is no secret he enjoys wine and the occasional cigarette, those who deal in unregulated cargo might be interested in his more illicit, specific tastes. While he is happy to negotiate, Llaz values discretion above all else, and he is willing to pay for it.
SEVERED ROOTS. Living his life in Ishgard, Llaz is accustomed to being the sole Viera in any given room. As such, his own people are a mystery to him, and he would readily welcome any chance to remedy that. Other Viera would find him receptive and eager to form even the shallowest of connections.
VOID-TOUCHED. Llaz's mind and body, originally offered as a vessel, now act as host to a once-powerful Voidsent succubus: Radeka. Both forever changed by her botched birth into this realm, Radeka and Llaz are resigned to their reluctant, symbiotic, and irreversible partnership. Take note that this information is not readily available or obvious to those who only know him on a surface level. This hook will take extensive RP to unlock.
ILL AT EASE. As a result of the failed ritual binding him to Radeka, Llaz suffered injuries from which he has never fully recovered. He experiences chronic and debilitating pain on a near daily basis and has a tendency to self-medicate. Any opportunistic alchemists or healers with bleeding hearts might find his case a compelling one.
